Josh Sidon, Ph.D.

Background

Josh Sidon is a Senior Project Manager with Peak Consulting Group, bringing almost 20 years of experience in environmental compliance, policy development, and interdisciplinary project management. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a B.S.E. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan. Josh’s career spans both federal service and private consulting, where he has built a strong reputation for his expertise in NEPA processes, environmental justice, and socioeconomic impact analysis for large-scale public land and infrastructure projects.

Before joining Peak, Josh spent over a decade with federal land management agencies. At the U.S. Forest Service, he oversaw NEPA for the Rocky Mountain Region, along with related programs such as FOIA, litigation, administrative review, and socioeconomic analysis. His leadership supported faster, more efficient NEPA reviews while ensuring environmental documentation remained defensible and useful for the public and agency decision-makers. At the Bureau of Land Management, Josh provided national-level expertise in socioeconomic analysis, supporting NEPA compliance and policy development across diverse programs and projects. Josh also served as a Technical Advisor and Contracting Officer Representative (COR), providing guidance on policy development, stakeholder engagement, and socioeconomic analyses for projects nationwide across a range of sectors including recreation, energy, minerals, infrastructure, livestock grazing, and land management planning.

At Peak, Josh brings his extensive policy insight and analytical background to help agencies and partners navigate complex NEPA and permitting processes. Known for his clear communication and problem-solving mindset, he bridges technical detail with strategic vision, ensuring that environmental decisions are transparent, defensible, and aligned with both regulatory and community priorities.
